Ashridge House Wedding – Hertfordshire

Elsa & Graham were married on a beautiful Spring day of Easter weekend.

The day began with Elsa and her bridal preparations at Ashridge House. I was taken through to the wood panelled room where the hustle and bustle of the wedding morning was in full swing. The smell of Jo Malone fragrance filled the room, and the mood was so happy, Elsa was beaming! We began by photographing the fine details of the dress, shoes and jewellery, along with the bouquets and the girls getting ready. The bridal details are so important to me because they give the fullest picture of the wedding morning. Each item has been chosen with such care and thought and each will have meaning. One day they will become heirlooms…

After the bridal preparations, I headed over to the church of St Peter & St Paul in Little Gaddesden and It was honestly one of the prettiest churches I have seen!

I met with Graham for his groom portraits and also some shots with his groomsmen and then began capturing the guests as they arrived. The sun was shining and everyone was in such great spirits, I knew it was going to be a wonderful day.

Elsa arrived looking absolutely breath-taking along the bridesmaids and flower-girls who complimented her beautifully in light oyster toned dresses.

The ceremony was upbeat and was followed by a fantastic confetti walk (I LOVE confetti!) As the happy couple had a glass of champagne by their beautiful car, I headed back to Ashridge House to wait for their arrival.

I got in position as soon as I heard the car trundling down the drive, and they pulled up outside the entrance complete with their glasses of champagne!

The Reception

Welcome drinks greeted the guests as they gathered in the Italian garden around the beautiful fountain. I was looking forward to later in the afternoon when we would capture some lovely couple portraits next to it. At the right time of day in early evening the light hits the fountain just right and it makes for the most beautiful portraits. You are spoiled for choice at Ashridge House when it comes to photographs, it is an absolute dream…

The wedding breakfast was served in the Lady Marian Alford Room which had been beautifully decorated by Rebecca Marsala Flowers. Her flowers are always so lovely…

The staircase of Ashridge House is something to behold, and the galleries above it are incredible. It is said to be the inspiration for Hogwarts and I thought it as soon as I saw it! After the cake cut, Elsa threw her bouquet from the stairs and a very happy young lady caught it – will she be next down the aisle I wonder?!

I loved capturing so many natural candid moments of the wedding party as they played croquet on the lawn and later partied into the night on the dance floor. Everything about this wedding was amazing!

I hope you enjoy looking through some of my photographs from this beautiful wedding day xx
