Cornwell Manor Wedding Workshop

Cornwell Manor is a beautiful country house in the heart of The Cotswolds.

It’s a wedding venue I have wanted to shoot at for a while and seeing Poppy Carter release her Spring workshop here, featuring an elegant English style wedding aesthetic, I just had to jump on it!

As I was driving nearer to the venue I drove through Stow-on-the-wold, a small town I lived in from age 14-18. I didn’t realise Cornwell Manor was so close to it!

It took me back driving through Stow and on the way home I stopped off for a little walk around Stow. So many memories of working in various hotels and pubs where I had Saturday jobs, chamber-maiding and waitressing when I was at school!

THE GROUNDS

The grounds speak for themselves. A private garden with apple trees, gorgeous lawns with perfect countryside views, a pond with a cherub fountain, perfectly manicured topiary trees leading to the feature front steps of the house and a lovely light Cotswold stone gravel courtyard which I love for shooting portraits on! (see why further on).

Family portraits

We were so lucky to have three adorable flower girls with us in the morning. Poppy’s own daughter Isla was one of them! (I was a bit start struck as she’s a star in her own right being in films and on tv!)

The vibe we were going for with these portraits was “Royal”. So instead of having the usual family group photos outside in pretty light, we chose the stunning ballroom, and chose to seat the girls with the bride and groom.

The whole look and feel of them is regal and elegant, and I love it! I definitely want to do more of this style of portraits.

We then simply had to get some cute photos of the girls dancing and having a bit of fun, along with some natural shots with the bride outside. The wind got a bit gusty and whipped the veil away at one point, but we rolled with it!

Couple Portraits

Our beautiful couple Chris and Layla were so lovely to spend the day with! They’re a real couple, which I always prefer on a styled workshop. The reactions I capture are more authentic and they interact completely naturally together. Yes they’re models, but I guided them just as I would do a bride and groom on their wedding day.

I took way too many shots! (I can’t help it when I’m shooting something I love!) It’s been hard picking just a handful to share here!

The Styling

The vision that Poppy and Jennifer created was beyond beautiful – My jaw dropped when I saw the ballroom full of exquisite spring blooms and set with the most divine table laid perfectly for an English country wedding breakfast.

As for the cake! Oh my, just take a look! The cake and desserts formed the most gorgeous table of delights and were so pretty! I’m a lover of all things pretty and when it involves cake and sweet treats it’s just a dream.

Our Bride

Cornwell Manor has many beautiful areas for photographs, and we took our bridal model Hannah out into the enclosed garden for the first of her shots. Once again the wind whipped up, but on occasions like this, I like to use this to my advantage, as it showed the full wedding gown off beautifully!

After here, we went to the front of the house and the gardens, where I was able to create a lovely range of images.

The dresses were all designed and made by Mara Marie Bridal, and we had multiple styles on the day.

Hannah later changed into a super cute mini dress for some indoor portraits. I love this dress for the evening part of a wedding or an elopement!

The Stationery

The stationery a couple chooses sets the vibe of a wedding. It’s the initial contact that guests receive from a couple, and it’s an indication of the styling and feel that the wedding is going to have.

Gable and Grain designed beautiful stationery for us which coordinated perfectly with the aesthetic of the day.

Couple Portraits

I like my couple portraits to look and feel effortless and natural. It takes a little bit go guidance, but ultimately it is the couple themselves interacting together that I am capturing.

The front of Cornwell Manor is the perfect spot for those “just married” shots, and when you add in a classic sports car, the images become my absolute favourite!

The sun softened and I was over the moon with the portraits I captured!

If you’re getting married at Cornwell Manor, and can picture yourself in my photographs, get in touch for my brochure! I can’t wait to hear from you x
