Lyde Court Wedding

Lyde Court is set in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside. Driving to this idyllic and magical venue felt like heading into a little private bubble that no-one else knew about!

When I arrived I walked through to the venue and was greeted with the most stunning 17th century stone barn. Lyde Court itself actually dates back to the 14th century!

I can’t think of a more romantic barn setting to get married in and I can see why Bethan and Gary chose it. Each area of the venue is so unique. The styling is warm and rustic with its’ vintage furniture, candle lit spaces and fairy lights. It was the perfect setting for their special celebrations.

The Ceremony

Bethan got ready for the ceremony in The White Room which is beautiful light-filled room that opens out onto the gardens. Her best friends came to share some champagne during her preparations alongside her daughter and step daughter who were her bridesmaids. They looked gorgeous in the softest shade of green.

The ceremony took place in old barn of Lyde Court. The beams were adorned with garlands of hops and Bethan had a stunning floral moon-gate at the top of the aisle.

Before the ceremony I photographed Gary and the groomsmen on the lawn by the old barn. It was such a bright day but I found a shady spot in front of some bamboo which was perfect!

Bethan’s son played acoustic guitar as the guests arrived for the ceremony, and also as Bethan walked down the aisle on the arm of her father. This was a very emotional moment for Gary, and for many of the wedding guests!

Their vows were beautiful and I could see how much Bethan and Gary mean to each other. They made their exit back down through the old barn, Gary having to duck down beneath the garlands of hops as they went!

The Secret Garden

After the ceremony, the guests lined the winding path and as the newlyweds came out they threw confetti over them! Everyone then made their way to the garden at the back of the house for welcome drinks and lawn games. Lyde Court has many pretty places for couple portraits and I think the Secret Garden is the most beautiful of them all! Wildflowers, tall grasses, and shady trees provide the perfect backdrop. I love the photographs we took here!

The Wedding Breakfast

The wedding breakfast was inside the main barn with it’s high vaulted ceiling, arrow-slit windows, candles and fairy lights. It created an atmospheric feel which suited the day so well. The speeches were both emotional and very happy. You could see that Bethan and Gary are soul-mates, and simply made for each other.

The First Dance

As the day went on, the cake was cut and the first dance was about to begin! No-one was prepared for what was about to happen. As the first bars of “Time of my life” began to play, Bethan and Gary made their way onto the dance floor. As the beat kicked in, Bethan and Gary began to dance the full choreographed Dirty Dancing dance!!! The biggest thing we were dying to know was – will they do the lift?! And I can tell you yes! They absolutely DID! And it was flawless!

Little did everyone know they had been practicing it for months as a surprise! What a fantastic surprise it was too! They were brilliant, and these are two people who are not dancers and have never danced before! Gary had held off from drinking too much during the day so he could focus on the first dance so he definitely deserved a few drinks afterwards!

Everyone rushed onto the floor to hug them and join in to party the night away.

Bethan’s American friend Jamie had styled the venue perfectly for Bethan and Gary’s special day. Bethan gave her her vision and from this, Jamie brought it all to life and even added the most amazing Stores stack! This went down very well and I recommend it to anyone!

The day ended with sparklers on the lawn, the perfect end to the perfect day. Thank you so much Bethan and Gary, and to your wonderful hosts at Lyde Court. I loved every minute!
